Mother’s Day is technically the first celebration that we’ve arrived at since most countries around the world went under some level of lockdown as a preventive measure in combating COVID-19. In Malaysia, the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) was announced on the 1 May, relaxing the rules as businesses were slowly allowed to resume.
Basically, Mother’s Day which was celebrated on 10 May 2020 was the first true test on how much of normalcy has been restored since the MCO. There were news articles on families that prioritised Mother’s Day over full-on social distancing with their faces not blurred out; which means they were fine with being exposed to potential public judgement. However, that didn’t seem to be the case as most Malaysians joined in on celebrating their moms in what has probably been a year like no other.
Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) took the cat approach for Mother’s Day this year by coming up with the Ultimate Feline Championship, a list of adorable cats ‘purrsonas’ that illustrated the different kind of mothers around us – ranging from the Dorae-Mum who magically packs what you need, to the Tiger Mum whose power move is to cast a shield of protection over her kittens.
Through these cat purrsonas, Digi said it is celebrating mothers in all shapes and forms. “No matter which role your own mother plays, she deserves to be cherished not just on this special day but every single day,” was stated in a press release.
To make Mother’s Day extra special, Digi is also offering a whole host of deals on its app, MyDigi Rewards, exclusively for Digi customers. Each of the cat purrsonas comes with a list of recommended gifts that you can purchase via MyDigi Rewards.
