As businesses scramble and continue to make adjustments to the complex realities offered early in the 2020s agencies have been under tremendous pressure to retain existing sources of business whilst simultaneously pursuing new sources of revenue to protect and grow their talent base.
It is no exception for one of the foremost agencies in the country, Naga DDB Tribal.
“We have maintained our focus throughout 2020 and 2021 in supporting our existing clients through the most critical times of their businesses which are mostly in the essential industries. As a result of the agency’s relentless pursuit in creativity and effectiveness, we have continued to produce some of our best work despite the various challenges brought upon by the pandemic.
We are optimistic about the journey ahead as the indicators since the first half of 2022 have been largely positive for us,” said Clarence Koh, COO of Naga DDB Tribal.
In tandem with its pursuit of business expansion, the agency has also been actively initiating progression in its existing talent core; illustrated by the appointment of Hajar Yusof in the role of Head of Digital Experience as well as the recent promotion of agency stalwart; Nik Radzi as Executive Creative Director.
Recent months have also seen a slew of new hires highlighted by the appointment of Farrah Harith Mcpherson as its Chief Growth Officer.
According to Farrah, new client acquisition in the first half of 2022 has been largely successful with Luno – Malaysia’s leading regulated digital assets exchange which appointed the Agency as its Agency-of-Record (AOR), as well as Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, which handed the Agency its Social Media responsibilities after a 3-way-pitch, coming on board with the agency.
“Three months into joining Naga, I can see the genuine care and competencies that our agency teams have for our clients’ brands. It’s not surprising why clients such as Grab, Bata, and Dugro have assigned projects to the agency without a pitch.
We are also extremely humbled by the return of our long time clients such as Munchy’s, specifically the LEXUS brand under the biscuit giant’s portfolio as well as Nippon Paints famously known for the Nippon Blobby’s campaign conceptualised by Naga DDB.”
“Right from the pitch presentation itself, we could feel the chemistry between the team at Naga DDB Tribal and us. They understood what it would take to present a complex product like cryptocurrencies to Malaysians in a way that was simple yet engaging. We are excited about our upcoming campaign “Move With Luno”, featuring iconic Malaysians such as Pandelala Rinong (Olympic Diver) and Zaquan Adha (Professional Footballer).
We are pleased with the strategy and insights as well as the commitment that the Naga DDB team has demonstrated thus far. We look forward to bringing more exciting ideas together as we continue to put the power of crypto in everyone’s hands.” Scarlett Chai, Country Marketing Manager, Luno Malaysia.
“Naga DDB Tribal was the agency responsible for the iconic Nippon Blobby almost 15 years ago, and so it was only fitting that we work together on our next marketing campaign as we continue to strengthen our position as the market leader in the category.
No other agency understands us better than Naga DDB Tribal, and it is nice to be working with the same team and familiar faces, like Alvin and Guan again.” Datin Wong Meng Lee, Ast General Manager of Nippon Paint.
In addition to its new business acquisitions, Naga DDB Tribal had also been buoyed by its recent reappointment as the Core Agency for KFC Malaysia after a 7-agency pitch, thereby extending its tenure with the QSR brand that has been on-going since the year 2015.
“We are honoured and thankful that our new and existing clients have chosen to place their trust in us as their agency of choice. The opportunities given to us provides additional impetus for the agency to continue to improve and evolve our service offerings to meet their current and future needs.
Moving forward, it is also our intent to actively pursue new business acquisition from various categories to add to our portfolio. We believe that engaging with different industries will inherently expand our mindsets and push our capabilities to greater heights.
As it stands, we are blessed to have an extremely progressive and forward-thinking portfolio of clients and it is our responsibility to not only match their ambitions, but strive to exceed their expectations as well ” Kristian Lee, CEO, Naga DDB Tribal.
