According to local reports media giant Redberry is in talks to sell its lifestyle magazine, Unreserved, to Kassandra Kassim.

Launched in November 2010, UNRESERVED is a lifestyle magazine distributed every fortnightly together with The Malay Mail. It has a circulation of 30,000 copies.

NST Online reported a source sharing that Redberry ‘is willing to sell Unreserved if the price is right’. The deal according to the NST was still premature and further details on it will be revealed in the coming weeks.

According to NST Online Kassandra Kassim is the person the company is most likely selling the publication too. Kassandra was part of the magazine’s founding team and was with the company for five years holding the title of Group Chief Creative Officer. She left the group in 2015 to pursue new opportunities.

The report by NST Online also highlighted that the group is planning to reduce its The Malay Mail print version and focus completely on its digital version.

MARKETING has reached out to Redberry for comments.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.

Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.

Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.

Collaboration is keypartnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.

Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
