Directors Think Tank bags a silver and bronze at the APAC Tambuli Awards 2021

At the most recent APAC Tambuli Awards held earlier this month, homegrown production house, Directors Think Tank, received two awards; a silver in the Family Centered Brand/ Humanity and Culture category for Maxis’s ‘The Unheard Prayers’ and a bronze in the Brand Storytelling / Creative category for Petronas’ ‘Land of Light Bulbs’. 

‘The Unheard Prayer’ which was directed by one of the co-founders of DTT, Maurice Noone, for Leo Burnett Malaysia, 

The film was part of Maxis’ 2019 Raya festive campaign which was debuted with the release of  Deria Takbir,  a mobile app  was designed for the deaf community to experience Takbir during Aidilfitri. The app works by listening to the Takbir and then converting sound waves in real-time into cymatic visual patterns and vibration, allowing users to feel the Takbir’s rhythm and melody. 

Petronas’ ‘Land of Light Bulbs’ film on the other hand was directed by DTT’s Rajay Singh and Rajesh Mapuskar for Ensemble Worldwide and has picked up an array of international awards including the Grand Prix at Spikes Asia 2020

“It is great to win metal at APAC Tambuli Awards 2021.” said Executive Director of DTT, Stephen Douglas. “You have to support a show that celebrates effective brands with purpose – why a brand exists and what it believes and means to people.” 

The Tambuli (a native Filipino horn), is organized by the School of Communication of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) in collaboration with industry partners. The APAC Tambuli Awards began in Manila in 2005 before it was open to the Asia Pacific region in 2012 where entries from Asia Pacific, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East are accepted, including campaigns created or initiated from anywhere in the world but aired in these regions.
