(Marketingmagazine.com.my) – Dentsu Aegis Network Malaysia today announced three key senior appointments to its group management team with Nicky Lim appointed as the Country Chief Executive Officer succeeding Margaret Lim who has retired after a 46-year career in the advertising industry.
Nicky, armed with over 20 years of experience in the advertising industry, joined Dentsu Aegis Network in March last year as Chief Operations Officer, as part of Margaret’s succession planning.
Prior to that, he held key local and regional business and functional positions in Geometry Global, McCann and Grey Group.
In his new role, Nicky is responsible for steering the operations and management across its network brands in Malaysia, which encompasses media, digital, creative, and sports marketing businesses.
“Margaret was instrumental in managing integration across the Dentsu Aegis Network business post-merger. We are now entering into a new era of Dentsu Aegis Network where delivering innovative solutions that fuel positive disruption and promote effective collaboration will drive all that we do. I’m thrilled to be able to deliver on the strong growth targets for the business with a reenergised team,” said Nicky.
The latest additions to the senior management team are Dinesh Bhaskar Shetty, Chief Financial Officer, and Gan Mei Lian, Talent Management Director, both reporting to Nicky.
Commenting on the new appointments, Nicky said, “At Dentsu Aegis Network, we leverage the structural advantage of ‘One P&L’ per market in a unique, collaborative operating model.
In this age of marketing convergence, where providing integrated services are a necessity, this model is a source of differentiation that gives us an edge over our peers and has been a driving force in our performance in recent years. Dinesh is key in steering this model to elevate our market’s profitability.”
“Above and beyond that, our talent has and will always be our number one asset, and with innovation solutions being ingrained as our group’s mantra, Mei Lian plays a crucial role in pioneering talent management initiatives that aim to promote operational excellence, improved engagement and capabilities development,” Nicky remarked.

Nicky has earned a strong reputation in Malaysia for driving business growth and he has the instinct and dedication to power Dentsu Aegis Network Malaysia forward. Bringing both Dinesh and Mei Lian on board also builds a strong leadership team with which we can achieve great things. I’m looking forward to the next chapter of growth for Malaysia under this new strength in leadership.”

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.
We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTT, DOOH, influencer marketing, retail, etc.
Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.
Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.
Collaboration is key: partnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.
Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
