Malaysia’s leading film producer Astro Shaw announced a strategic partnership with award-winning Indonesian production house Visinema Pictures to co-produce and release a slate of four blockbuster films in Indonesia: Ben & Jody, Keluarga Cemara 2, Jagat Arwah and Mencuri Raden Saleh.
In 2020, Astro Shaw collaborated with Visinema Pictures in releasing the No.1 Family Drama Film in Indonesia, ‘Nanti Kita Cerita tentang Hari Ini’, exclusively in Malaysia, with overwhelming positive response from Malaysian audiences. To further strengthen the collaboration, these two top Southeast Asian production houses have united to create the next big hit film for local audiences in the region, further solidifying the presence and footprint of Astro Shaw and Visinema Pictures in Asia.
The four-film slate will premiere on local shores as soon as this March, with Astro Shaw leading the marketing and distribution in Malaysia.
Apart from ‘Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini’, the Top 2 Highest Grossing Local Film in Indonesia in 2020, Visinema Pictures has also produced many successful films in the past including Keluarga Cemara (2019), ‘Filosofi Kopi 2: Ben & Jody’ (2017), ‘Surat Dari Praha’ (2016), ‘Filosofi Kopi’ (2015) and many more.
Led by its Chief Executive Officer Angga Dwimas Sasongko, an award-winning young Indonesian film icon, Visinema Pictures has bagged numerous awards in Indonesia and received a nomination at the prestigious Academy Awards for the Best Foreign Language Film for the film ‘Surat Dari Praha’. Their films have also been featured in various film festivals across Asia, including Japan, China, India and Korea.
In joining forces with Visinema Pictures, Malaysia’s leading film producer Astro Shaw aims to elevate the entertainment quality of films for Malaysian audiences. Astro Shaw is renowned for its innovative approach in championing local stories that touches the hearts of audiences, topping the chart of the highest grossing local films of all-time in Malaysia with seven films, namely Hantu Kak Limah, Polis Evo 2, Paskal, Abang Long Fadil 2, Pusaka, Sangkar and more. With its latest release of The Garden of Evening Mists, Astro Shaw has been in the international spotlight, winning numerous awards in various international film festivals.
The two renowned production houses join forces together to produce blockbuster movies that will elevate the film quality and standard across the region. The four upcoming productions from this partnership span a wide variety of genres. ‘Ben & Jody’, the third installment of the ‘Filosofi Kopi’ film series, is an action, thriller, comedy film starring popular Indonesian cast Chicco Jerikho and Rio Dewanto alongside Yayan Ruhian, Luna Maya, Rio Dewanto, Chicco Jerikho and more. ‘Ben & Jody’ has been released in Indonesia on 27 January and received positive feedback from local audiences.
‘Jagat Arwah’ is a thriller fantasy film featuring young star Ari Irham and a popular cast that includes Cinta Laura, Oka Antara, Sheila Dara, Kiki Narendra and Ganindra Bimo. ‘Keluarga Cemara 2’, the sequel to the top Indonesian family drama film ‘Keluarga Cemara’, stars a popular line-up including Nirina Zubir, Ringgo Agus Rahman, Adhisty Zara, Widuri Puteri, Asri Welas and Abdurrahman Arif.
‘Mencuri Raden Saleh’ is a heist action film that will feature box office stars Iqbaal Ramadhan, Angga Yunanda, Rachel Amanda, Aghniny Haque, Umay Shahab dan Ari Irham.
