(marketingmagazine.com.my) – A watch retailer based in Kelantan has been fined by the Kota Baru Municipal Council (MPKB) over two global watch ads deemed too “sexy”, according to today’s news report by The Star.

It was reported that Lee Kum Chuan owner of Swee Cheong Watch & Pen Co had to remove the global watch ads by Longines featuring Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai and the other by Guess as the models clothes in the ad were deemed as too ‘sexy’.

The news report stated that under MPKB’s regulations on business permits, owners were not allowed to display sexy photographs at their shops.

Lee told The Star that he was fined a total RM2,000 but the amount was reduced to RM400, an amount he had to pay to have his permit renewed. Lee has been fined over 10 times since the 1990s.

“The posters were supplied by our manufacturers,” Lee shared.
