Rarely does a local representative of a global brand push for record-breaking efforts; unless that brand happens to be Samsung, whose Malaysian marketing team a huge Malaysia’s first. In its celebratory welcome for the newest flagship smartphone, 10 Samsung Galaxy S10 devices have gone to space.
This move, commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Samsung Galaxy, is a comprehensive plan to send these devices to the stratosphere. All 10 next-gen smartphones have reached 80,000ft above ground and took stunning photos of the Earth and parts of deep-space.
“It is a very special year for us at Samsung; after all, it is our 10th year of relentless innovation to create the next-generation smartphone,” said Yoonsoo Kim, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics. This includes being Malaysia’s first smartphone brand to carry out such a feat.
Even more interesting, throughout the Samsung Galaxy S10’s flight, those keeping tabs on-ground can join an online contest. The goal: firstly, to predict where the next-gen flagship smartphone will land; secondly, all they need to do is study the pictures and determine their landing location via pin-drop on the mapped locations.
Participants whose pin locations are closest to the landing site will win a brand-new Samsung next-gen flagship. This tie-in event, also another Malaysia’s first, is what Samsung calls the ‘Be Unbeaten‘ contest. This is a direct link to the new Samsung Galaxy S10 tagline: Be Unbeaten . It will run from the launch day, which is March 1 2019, and end March 4 2019.
“This ‘Be Unbeaten’ stunt is a reflection of our vision in Samsung – how we are constantly innovating to break boundaries. Better yet, we are striving to reach greater heights. Globally, this is Samsung’s inaugural attempt. Of course, we at Samsung Malaysia are proud to be the first market in the world to do this,” added Yoosoo.
