NSTP announces appointment of new Group Editor for BH

The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (NSTP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman as the Group Editor of Berita Harian (BH) effective 1 June 2022, replacing Dato’ Saidon Idris who retired recently.

Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman, 58, started his career as a journalist with the Malaysia News Agency BERNAMA in 1984. He later joined BH on 18 March 1991 and has been with the premier Malay newspaper till now.

With over 35 years experience in journalism, Datuk Ahmad Zaini has held many distinguished editorial positions in Berita Harian including as Kedah Bureau Chief, Assistant News Editor, News Editor, Chief News Editor, Associate Editor News & Digital, Executive Editor News and Executive Editor Commercial & Current Affairs.

BH is a Malay-language daily newspaper published in Malaysia by NSTP. It was first published on 1 July 1957 as the first mainstream newspaper in Malaysia, with its Sunday Edition, BH Ahad, launched three years later on 10 July 1960.

According to Nielsen Consumer & Media View Jan – Dec 2021 (Q4 2021) report, BH is currently one of Malaysia’s highest circulated newspapers with over 1.18 million readers for its daily edition and 906,000 readers for its Sunday edition.
