Leading telecommunications provider, Celcom has launched ‘Mak Kata’ (Mak Says) as its Raya campaign for the year, to inculcate the value of sharing throughout Ramadan and Syawal.
The campaign draws insight from the simple moments we share with family members -particularly our mothers – and remembering their advice or ‘petua’ that have been taught to us.
This is a first for Celcom and the region, creating 29 new daily short videos, one for each day of Ramadan on YouTube. The achievement is also one of the best in class, with over 8.73 million views on Youtube and Facebook within a span of 3 weeks. These charming videos feature young children candidly sharing ‘petua’ about fasting and preparing for Hari Raya. These videos are shared across Celcom’s social channels, where they were widely received from netizens.

Celcom also launched a thematic Raya film titled ‘Letters from Mak’ on its YouTube channel. The film’s premise echoed the values of the campaign, strengthening the message of sharing and cherishing the most valuable moments with our loved ones while we still can.
And as an initiative to give back to the community, Celcom aims to share a significant contribution based on the total views of ‘Letters from Mak to the following senior citizen welfare homes and orphanages:
• Rumah Jagaan Dan Rawatan Orang-Orang Tua Al-Ikhlas, Puchong
• Pertubuhan Kebajikan Mental Selangor, Petaling Jaya
• Rumah Kebajikan Dan Bimbingan At-Taqwa, Puchong
• Pusat Kebajikan Jagaan Sri Sai Selangor, Klang
Based on the total views from ‘Letters from Mak’ on YouTube, Celcom aims to contribute one of these following amounts equally to the abovementioned homes.
1 million views = RM60,000
1.5 million views = RM80,000
2 million views = RM100,000
