U Mobile recently released its Hari Raya 2024 festive film, Pita Hati, which tells a touching story of the unbeatable human spirit to persevere through trials in life. Produced in collaboration with Mojo Films and Mediabrands Content Studio (MBCS) , the video teases Malaysian rock band One Buck Short’s latest single in over decade, also entitled Pita Hati, as the official soundtrack to the film. The full song will be released by the end of April 2024.

U Mobile‘s Raya festive film showcases a story between Nurul (played by Shasha Abedul) and Azman (played by Hafeez Mikhail) that demonstrates the power of love to inspire human resilience. Through the highs and lows of their relationship, the song “Pita Hati” layers more emotions to the scenes, bringing the audience through a journey that reflects the values of the Raya season.

U Mobile has always been a champion of the unbeatable strength of the human spirit to persevere through challenges in order to realise their potential. We’re pleased to have worked with Mojo Films and MBCS to realise this ethos through film, and are also delighted to showcase One Buck Short’s latest single as a teaser with this film for all their fans,” said Bernard Lee, Head of Brand & Marketing Services at U Mobile.

Izal Azlee, bassist from One Buck Short, expressed that the band was sold to the idea of teasing their long-awaited new song after seeing the faith both U Mobile and Mojo Films demonstrated towards “Pita Hati”. He elaborates, “Their passion in supporting us was what convinced us to be a part of this.

We are touched by their support and we will forever be appreciative for this opportunity. It’s unbelievable how the film and the music complement each other. The mood, tone and emotions in this film further enhanced our track. The Mojo magic is evident through and through. This would have to be the best teaser for our single that’s coming out later this month.”

Barney Chua, founder and director of Mojo Films, adds: “As we go through the month of Ramadan, our film delves into the themes of perseverance and sacrifice, virtues that this sacred month amplifies. ‘Pita Hati’ is more than a story; it tells the journey of an endless quest to accept our destinies while mustering the courage to shape them.

The characters of Nurul and Azman are brought to life with remarkable depth by the wonderful Shasha Abedul and the incredible Hafeez Mikhail. Their performances were so genuine and profound that the boundary between art and real life began to blur.

Through their portrayal, they captured the raw humanity of their characters — flaws, strengths, and all. It’s this authenticity that elevates ‘Pita Hati’ beyond just a film; it becomes a mirror reflecting the complex beauty of human resilience.”

Stanley Clement, Chief Executive Officer of MBCS chimes in, “This film was a true collaborative effort with U Mobile, MBCS and Barney from Mojo, and we’re very pleased to be able to bring this to life together. The script was inspired by a true story, and in watching this film, one can’t help but be drawn into the story of Nurul and Azman.

Life threw them a major curveball, and yet the genuine values of Raya – devotion, faith, and hope – shone through in a very special way. It gives us all a ray of hope to never give up, no matter the circumstance. With perseverance and love, we can get through the challenges that come our way.”
