Starbucks appoints GO Communications as official PR and Communications Partner and celebrates 20th anniversary
Global coffee house, Starbucks Malaysia has officially appointed GO Communications to manage its Public Relations and Communications initiatives throughout the country.
This appointment is a historic one as it marks the first ever agency appointed by the global coffee house behemoth in Malaysia for Public Relations purposes in its history in the country.
Starbucks kick-started its operations in Malaysia in the year 1998, hence their 20th-anniversary celebration this year. The chain currently operates more than 250 stores around the nation, making it not only the favorite coffee place for Malaysians but also a productive member of communities around the country.
“As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we are setting our sights on bigger and better things over the next few decades, looking for better ways to serve and make our mark within communities in Malaysia,” said Sydney Quays, Managing Director of Starbucks Malaysia and CEO of Berjaya Food Berhad.
“In this regard, we are pleased to team up with GO Communications to take the Starbucks brand to greater heights in the country. Like Starbucks, GO has built a name for themselves in the country in the marketing, branding and public relations arena with great campaigns in their portfolio. Sharing similar values and business ethics, we believe we have found the right partner to further expand our brand and footprint in the country,” he added.
“We are indeed humbled and honoured to be working together with such a big global and award-winning brand and what an auspicious time for this appointment – on their 20th anniversary,” said Peter de Kretser, Chief Executive Officer of GO Communications.
“Starbucks is undoubtedly one of the biggest brands in popular culture and as coffee lovers ourselves, we are certainly excited and buzzed to work on some incredible new campaigns to further cement the brand’s identity in Malaysia. We are truly grateful for their faith and confidence to have us as their first PR agency of choice. I take this opportunity to congratulate Starbucks on its 20th anniversary and look forward to working together with them in years to come,” he added.
