Novartis Malaysia has launched “Not Alone with Psoriasis”, a digital campaign conceptualised by its digital agency Kingdom Digital.
This initiative was rolled out in conjunction with World Psoriasis Day (WPD) 2017, which was celebrated on October 29.
It is estimated more than 800,000 Malaysians are afflicted with Psoriasis.
This campaign features a 2-minute film that aims to raise awareness about psoriasis – a common autoimmune skin condition that causes red and scaly skin patches – and to highlight the stigmatisation faced by patients.
Due to the lack of understanding amongst Malaysians about psoriasis, the two common misconceptions about this disease is that it’s contagious and caused by poor hygiene.
As such, many people tend to be fearful towards psoriasis patients and they will avoid all forms of contact with them.
However, these two notions are not true at all. Psoriasis is not contagious nor is it caused by the lack of cleanliness.
Other than that, a social movement called #PsoriasisInsideout was pushed out earlier this month.
Leveraging on WPD 2017’s “Inside Out” theme, this movement calls on the public to post photos of themselves wearing clothes inside out on social media with the hashtag, set their post or profile to public and nominate friends and family to do the same.
