Meltwater, a global leader in media intelligence and data analytics, today announced two new senior hires to spearhead its customer journey and business functions and strengthen their presence in the APAC region.
Huixian Yang has been named Meltwater’s Customer Experience Director (APAC). With over a decade of experience in customer success at leading technology brands like Google, SAP, Microsoft and Fuji-Xerox, Huixian will bring her data-driven approach to deliver customer excellence and shape Meltwater’s global customer success framework.
Jeff Piniros will be stepping into the role of Sales Development Director (APAC). Formerly from Salesforce, he will be responsible for pipeline generation to drive revenue and growth goals while nurturing and growing the next generation of sales talent.
Commenting on the appointments, David Hickey, Executive Director of Meltwater, said, “Both Huixian and Jeff will be pivotal in steering the company through our next phase of growth. With the recent launch of Meltwater’s powerful new Enterprise Intelligence Suite in the region, we have also welcomed a slew of key enterprise clients.
We plan to continue building on our best-in-class artificial intelligence, natural language processing, computer vision and inference models to expand our capabilities and serve the evolving marketing needs of organisations.”
Welcoming new clients on board
The new strategic hires follow an exciting period of growth for Meltwater in APAC. Meltwater saw 52% growth in new clients in Q2 compared to Q1. Southeast Asia and Japan continue to be at the core of Meltwater’s growth in the region with the Philippines proving to be one such key market. Notable brands include PGAG, Shang Properties and Inquirer.net.
Go-to comedy brand PGAG under the Hepmil Media Group uses Klear, Meltwater’s influencer management platform to track and consolidate creator data across multiple social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
Meanwhile, luxury real-estate developer Shang Properties, uses Meltwater’s AI-powered Engage and Explore services to measure how its brand, properties, and social media pages are perceived across paid, earned, and owned media.
Finally, top Filipino broadcasting company Inquirer.net relies on Meltwater’s Engage for a comprehensive, bird’s eye view of how all the brands under its label are performing on social media.
AI has been at the core of Meltwater’s innovation for over 20 years

Klear, Meltwater’s influencer management platform, is now equipped with a new AI-powered visual search function, which helps brands and businesses search for influencers relevant to them instantly.
Meltwater’s latest AI-powered assistants leverage generative AI to help communication professionals work more efficiently. The first is a PR Assistant which helps PR professionals craft press releases and personalise pitches swiftly.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.
We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTT, DOOH, influencer marketing, retail, etc.
Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.
Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.
Collaboration is key: partnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.
Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
