Fiona Liao, the former Head of Brand of Prudential Assurance Malaysia, has been appointed as Group Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of Pos Malaysia.

Fiona’s appointment comes shortly after the departure of Schrene Goh, who left her post as EVP of Marketing at Pos Malaysia earlier this year and joined Lazada Malaysia as their CMO. Fiona will be reporting to the Group CEO of Pos Malaysia, Charles Brewer. She is responsible for the company’s brand, marketing, and communications functions and brings over 20 years of marketing, branding, communications, and product experience to the table.

In order to fulfill her main task of reenergising Pos Malaysia’s brand image, Fiona’s focus will be to strengthen their brand equity by delivering world-class services wrapped with brand admiration. MARKETING Magazine has reached out to Fiona for comments.

Fiona spent more than 13 years at Prudential Assurance Malaysia, prior to which she was the Communications Manager at DHL Express Malaysia for eight years.

Pos Malaysia’s 3QFY21 net profit widened to RM43.9 million from RM7.43 million a year earlier amid lower revenue and higher finance costs. Their quarterly revenue also fell 13.93% to RM536.26 million from RM623.03 million previously.

For the nine months ended Sept 30, 2021, their cumulative net loss grew 180.9% to RM212.52 million from RM75.67 million on the impairment of property, plant and equipment during the period, while revenue fell 6.7% to RM1.67 billion from RM1.79 billion.

However, all is not lost for Pos Malaysia despite facing operational headwinds moving forward if the national courier gets its parcel delivery segment strategy right. (Source: The Edge Markets)
