Celebrating International Women’s Day with Malaysia’s Leading Women
08 Mar
Ever since Clara Zetkin proposed this very special day at the second International Conference of Working Women in 1910, women have been celebrating the day to mark as one on which they take a look back at their collective achievements, and what they have had to sacrifice in order to get where they are.
The fact that the day is still being celebrated a hundred and eleven years later is enough to show us all that the world isn’t a place of complete equality yet, the battle goes on with more power being added towards the much needed victory against bias, against misuse of rights, against the unnecessary fight to suppress the rights of WOMEN.
This year, the MARKETING Magazine family called upon some of the most inspirational and influential women in leadership, who are also winners at the Malaysian CMO Awards 2021 to convey their messages to our valued readers.
Let us all be inspired to be better, and do better.
“The thing that keeps me going is that I love what I do. My work fills a huge part of my life. The only way to be truly happy is to believe in what I do and that I have done my very best. When faced with a challenging situation, I would ask for help, or if I noticed when something is wrong, I would offer to help. Trust in positive intentions and never stop learning no matter where who and what you are.”“I am extremely grateful to be a woman in these times, in this country and in the various roles I carry both professionally and personally. Most importantly, to be able to be aware of and be acknowledged for the value that I have as an individual. I am also aware that this is still not the case in many other parts of the world, nor in many segments of society, where inequality still exists on many levels. This IWD I would like to salute and pay tribute to women whose spirit and drive continue to blaze trails for others to follow in their wake, in spite of the various obstacles they may face, in hope of a better tomorrow for themselves, their loved ones and the causes they serve. Happy IWD to all women, everywhere!”
“The first step to #breakthebias is to acknowledge that there is a bias, and call it out. Only then can women be empowered to step out of the cage. As women leaders we all need to do our part to uplift and support each other’s journey. The day we don’t celebrate IWD means we have arrived. This IWD, let’s stand in solidarity with the women and children in Ukraine, for being strong.”
