Sonny (Soumitra) Dey who left Entropia as Chief Data Strategist end of April 2018, has joined Ampersand Advisory as Partner, Data Consultancy.

Sonny has a wealth of experience, having spent 25 years in Media and Data Consulting. He has worked at various organizations like Pepsico and Accenture prior to joining Ampersand Advisory.
He said, “The ad industry is in crisis, and the imperative need of the hour is action and results: clients have little patience for powerpoint strategy without capable execution. Today consultancies are challenging agencies, and boutique agencies having the power to challenge established global ad majors. I felt the time was right to join Ampersand, because of their deep-rooted commitment to data consulting. I was drawn to Ampersand’s goal of “achieving business results NOW!” for clients and I am looking forward to contribute to that mission.”
Sonny also announced the signing of a partnership between Ampersand Advisory and Absolutdata, a leading global Advanced Analytics, AI and Data Sciences firm which employs over 500 professionals servicing numerous Fortune 500 clients across offices in the US, London, Singapore, Dubai and New Delhi.
“The deal with Absolutdata brings new capabilities to the Malaysian market: we can offer clients rapid turnaround on data analytics, consulting and training with in-house, on premise expertise and a wealth of experience across marketing effectiveness, multi-channel optimization, econometrics and customer analytics. As the Malaysian economy grows, with the need for more than 20,000 data scientists and data-oriented thinking, the time is right for this new offering. As of today, we are getting excellent feedback in Malaysia from key categories like Energy, BFSI, Telco and FMCG.”
Suhale Kapoor, co-founder of Absolutdata, said “We have been exploring Malaysia as a key growth market in ASEAN and we’re happy we have found a partner who sees the opportunity the same way that we do. Absolutdata products and services deliver scalable business impact across the enterprise by combining cutting edge AI (artificial intelligence) and ML (machine learning) with its heritage in analytical frameworks, business understanding and technology. A full suite of AI-powered products and data science services are changing the way global brands make decisions. We are excited to bring these solutions to clients in Malaysia – both MNCs and local players have already started to leverage their data to make better decisions every day. Ampersand Advisory complements us perfectly with their strategic orientation and unique offering.”
Sandeep Joseph, CEO of Ampersand Advisory added, “We’re encouraged by the traction Ampersand Advisory has received, as we re-set the client-agency model. One of our key goals in the second year is to deepen the data consulting business, while we keep adding to our list of media advisory clients. We’re truly honoured to be working with Absolutdata, and we look forward to better informing all forms of corporate decision-making in Malaysia. With this partnership we’re the best placed local consulting company in the Malaysian big data and real-time AI space today.”
