Dubbed as the “Electric Myvi for the masses” with 400km Range Under RM90K
At the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024, Perodua unveiled its highly anticipated eMO-II, an electric vehicle concept poised to redefine the EV market.
Dubbed the “Electric Myvi for the masses,” the eMO-II is a bold step in Perodua’s journey toward sustainable mobility.
With a competitive price tag under RM90,000 and a range of approximately 400km, this hatchback EV is a clear signal of Perodua’s intent to make electric mobility accessible to the everyday Malaysian.
Efficient Design Meets Futuristic Features
The eMO-II takes a significant leap forward from its predecessor, the eMO-I concept, showcasing a sleeker, futuristic design.
Its performance credentials are equally impressive: powered by a CATL-sourced LFP battery with 50kWh capacity, the EV can achieve a 0-100km/h sprint in under seven seconds, rivaling more premium EV offerings.
Charging convenience is also a key focus, with AC charging taking 8 hours for a full charge and DC fast charging enabling 10-80% battery replenishment in just 30 minutes.
Bringing EV Dreams to Reality
Set to launch in 2025, the eMO-II represents more than just an affordable EV—it symbolises Perodua’s commitment to democratising electric vehicles in Malaysia.
Initial production is expected at 500 units per month, catering to a growing demand for eco-friendly transportation.
While discussions about potential battery-swapping technology remain under wraps, Perodua has hinted at ongoing studies into this promising innovation.
Rivalry in the National EV Space
Perodua’s eMO-II enters the market at a critical juncture, facing competition from Proton’s upcoming e.MAS 7, a mid-sized electric SUV expected to retail from RM120,000.
While the eMO-II targets mass adoption with affordability and practicality, the e.MAS 7 caters to a more premium segment.
The rivalry between these two automotive giants is likely to spur further advancements in Malaysia’s EV landscape.
The Road Ahead
The eMO-II is more than just a car—it’s a statement about Malaysia’s readiness to embrace electric mobility on a broader scale.
Perodua’s strategic pricing and performance benchmarks are setting the stage for a future where EVs are no longer a luxury but a viable choice for every household.
As Perodua gears up for the eMO-II’s official debut, the anticipation among consumers and industry stakeholders alike signals the dawn of an electrifying era in Malaysia.
