GIGPLE, (a play of words involving gigs and people) aims to address one of the largest growth segments in the Gig Economy – Marketing and Communications.
The platform connects gig workers who have a skill set in this area to some of the regions most exciting established and upcoming companies.
GIGPLE Country Head, Hari Rai said the lead up to the launch has been at a intense pace and attributes this to the start-up targeting the fast growing vertical within the Gig Ecosystem, “Malaysia and ASEAN will churn out more Marketing Comm grads than most places in the world and Gigple’s aim is to help them as well as experienced professionals in the field with jobs which in turn will help the economy.”
Hari also mentioned that Gigple has already signed up some of the biggest media players in the region.
Currently Gigple has an experienced talent pool comprising 70% in marketing, creative, and communications (e.g. graphic designers, writers, social media, web developers).
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the job markets around the world and with work-from-home now quickly being accepted by local and global enterprises, the job market is in a constant state of flux as organisations look for ways to cut overheads and make their businesses more future-proof.
The GIG Economy is here to stay. In Malaysia for instance, there are close to four million freelance workers and the number is growing by the day adding the government in its Budget 2021 had allocated RM6 billion to support skills growth training for gig workers.
The Malaysian Government has identified the gig economy as a new source of economic growth which would be made part of the 12th Malaysia Plan 2021-2025, further boosting the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country.
Hari stated that with a large talent and unique employer pool, GIGPLE not only helps employers hire the right experts with the right experience, but also helps companies large and small cut down on costs.
A key differentiator is Gigple’s ability to seamlessly connect Gigs to workers – it provides free psychometric assessments to ensure the right fit, it provides remote interview and CV tools to make the hiring process more engaging, but importantly it has a clean payment process that looks to align payments to deliverables.
