4 Brilliant April Fool’s Day Marketing Campaigns 2018

Companies have always taken advantage of April’s Fools to bring out a chuckle or two in every consumer. In Malaysia, brands have always tried to incorporate some form of food localisation like “nasi lemak” or “durian” into their April Fool’s product.
Below are just a few of the hilarious marketing campaigns by brands in Malaysia.
 1. BOOST 
Malaysians have already been introduced to the existence of the “nasi lemak cake”.
But “nasi lemak smoothie” really takes the cake. Fruit juice chain Boost Juice Bars concocted a curious new drink that will cure your “nasi lemak” cravings: the Nasi Lemak Smoothie.
Boost announced the new offering on Facebook on Saturday, March 31 with the statement “We know you love Nasi Lemak so here it is, introducing the Nasi Lemak Smoothie,” it said in a post accompanied by a photo of a cup of a pastel green ice-blended drink. Boost Juice Bars added that the smoothie is made with freshly juiced cucumber, spinach, cooked rice, chilli flakes, coconut water, coconut milk, sorbet, and ice.
The concoction was said to be available on April 1, which happens to be April Fool’s Day.

2. Jobbie Nut Butter 


Malaysia’s handmade peanut butter, Jobbie Nut Butter slid in a good April Fool’s buy 1 free 1 deal with a statement that they were “closing down”. Look closer to the white paper on the sofa that said April Fool’s.

3. Krispy Kreme


On March 30, Krispy Kreme teased its consumers with the company apparently releasing a new flavour on 1 April which looked like caramel and chili flakes on their signature donut. True enough, the C2 (caramel + chili) donut turned out to be an April Fool’s Joke.

4. myBurgerLab 


myBurgerlab joined in the fun by citing that “In fact, swing by this Easter, and ask for a free additional egg in your burger for any burger which doesn’t already have an egg in it for today only.”
