Facebook Messenger hits 900M users and rolls out Messenger Codes, Usernames and Links


(Marketingmagazine.com.my) – Facebook has announced that it is launching new tools on Messenger to make it easier for its users to connect with friends and businesses as it records a milestone of 900 million monthly active users.

As part of Facebook’s commitment to help people connect with businesses and friends, Messenger will be rolling out Messenger Codes and Messenger Links.

Messenger Links provide businesses with a fast and easy way for people to start a message thread with them. Messenger Codes serve the same purpose by providing unique codes that people can scan in Messenger using their phones to begin a thread with businesses.

Facebook is also launching Messenger Greetings to improve communication with people in Messenger and Facebook.

Messenger Greetings are customizable notes from the business that appear in a new message thread before messages are sent.

Businesses can use this text to greet people and set a friendly tone while letting people know what types of messages are expected.

The newly announced tools on Messenger are expected to have a positive impact on communication between users and businesses, particularly in Malaysia where users send 1.5 times the amount of Messages to Pages than the global average.

Top brands including P&G, Mondelez International, Coca-Cola, Google, IKEA, IBM,
Unilever, Amazon, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts and Asia Pacific Breweries have
