Digi inspires positivity through animated Deepavali tale

This Deepavali, through real-life inspiring stories, Digi spread a message of positivity. The video executed by Naga DDB Tribal and Directors Think Tank bears the classic charm of animated folklore tales while remaining true to the real-life story.

Titled “Villalan” (Archer), the story is based on the personal hardships and struggles faced by Suresh Selvathambhy, leading up to his victory as World Champion in the World Para-Archery Championships. His story carries a universal message of inner strength that is relevant in present times.

“We hope that this inspiring real-life people’s stories of unsung heroes will continue to bring the much-needed positivity into our days,” said Digi’s Chief Mark’eting Officer, Praveen Rajan. “Through this video, we want to remind everyone that we can all be heroes in our own way and that it is in the darkest times that our true strength is defined.

Naga DDB Tribal’s Creative Director, Ellison Fernandez also explained that the decision behind choosing animation for this video was made to recreate the classic Malaysian “cerita dongeng” concept for the new-age audience.  Why animation? It was down to the evergreen appeal of a classic Malaysian “cerita dongeng” for the new-age audience.

“Stories sometimes stay with us for life, like a little part of this one was told by my mum and her mum to her before that,” Ellison said. “A storybook comes to life with a positive message for society and, it really was the collaboration between so many great partners that gave this piece its magic.”

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.

Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.

Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.

Collaboration is keypartnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.

Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
