British Red Cross partners with TikTok to teach vital first aid techniques

The British Red Cross has partnered with TikTok, which has 800 million monthly active users to launch a First Aid Toolkit. The toolkit takes the form of a TikTok channel, @firstaidtoolkit and features videos of doctors teaching viewers vital first aid skills.

The channel which was launched last week currently has over 29,000 followers and over a dozen videos that explain the important next steps to take in a medical emergency.

The types of emergencies tackled through the channel so far range from situations such as choking, a broken bone, allergy reactions, strokes and heart attacks to tips on which household items to use in the absence of a first aid kit.

“We’re thrilled to be launching the First Aid Toolkit which makes learning vital first aid skills easier than ever,” Head of Community Education at the British Red Cross, Georgie Hart said. “Anyone can do first aid – you don’t need any special equipment or training – but learning a few key skills and having the confidence to carry them out could save a life.”
