APPIES 2019 Quick Chat: Timothy Johnson, SVP Marketing, INTI

Officially, there is approximately two months to go before APPIES 2019 opens its doors on 25 and 26 April; let’s turn the spotlight onto some of the event’s esteemed judges – first up: Timothy Johnson, SVP of Marketing for INTI.

The APPIES Malaysia Marketing Awards is an event that continues to imbue excellence within advertising; this is something many marketers look forward to.

For Timothy, this event is the long-standing platform that pushes boundaries for creativity, marketing, and advertising. “Every year, I expect to see the bar going up even higher; especially, in the areas of creativity, execution, and results,” he shared.

As trends now becoming more digitally inclined, many quarters within the advertising industry are looking to be more innovative. Timothy feels otherwise as he noted how it’s still important for marketers to consider the audience role. “It sounds cliché but I still believe the goal is about how we are able to connect with the consumer. That and we also must always make them be a part of the journey; of course, we must also open the path to purchase for them,” he said.

When it comes to the APPIES judging process, Timothy will be looking out for pitches that connect the dots. That, for him, is better than trying to make a case stand on its own.

One big-tip that Timothy has for marketers who are vying for APPIES gold: make the case as solid as possible. Also, provide enough facts that will wow the judges!

Submission deadline for APPIES Malaysia Marketing Awards 2019: 15th March 2019.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.

Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.

Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.

Collaboration is keypartnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.

Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
