#TGIM: 5 Classic Raya ads that didn’t make us cry

Malaysian festive ads are kind of depressing, brilliant, but boy do they bring out the waterworks.
In the past years, we have seen plenty of visually appealing and pretty intense Raya festive ads. While I could highlight all of them today, we decided to go through the library that is YouTube to bring you some Hari Raya ads that would, hopefully, brighten up your Monday.

1. Maxis – Hari Raya (2013)

With his infectious smile and childlike exuberance the star of Maxis Raya advertisement in 2013, managed to bring life to the telco’s festive advertisement, effectively conveying the message of how we should disconnect to better connect with our loved ones.

2. TM – Puasa Yang Yuk (2013)

This humorous festive ad by TM follows the challenges faced by a young boy completing a full fast. From imagining soft drinks ads coming to life to seeing his pet chicken as his next meal, the ad perfectly encapsulates the trials and tribulations one faces during the fasting season.

3. TM- Adik (2014)

Bringing back the same family that was a hit in 2013, in TM’s festive ad for the following year, the youngest family member was in the spotlight. We follow the little ‘cili padi’s’ adventures of climbing trees, swimming in the river and escaping punishment from her parents.

4. TV3- Budak Bandar

You know it’s going to be an epic ad when Darth Vader is involved. This classic TV3 Hari Raya ad highlights the best things about going back to your ‘kampung’.

5. BSN- Pengacau Raya (2015)

BSN Pengacau Raya Ad

Finally, a funny Raya ad that doesn’t involve an adorable kid. BSN’s Raya ad for last year was a humorous story brilliantly told through the eyes of Aloy who was celebrating his first Hari Raya. The play on the meaning of Pengacau was a brilliant touch.
