Tesco renamed as Lotus’s after 2020 acquisition by CP Group

Tesco made the official announcement yesterday of renaming its stores as Lotuss Stores or Lotus’s Malaysia after customers noticed signs and notices of rebranding throughout its stores. According to the company’s Facebook page, the full rebranding exercise will be completed by the end of 2021.

Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd (CP Group) acquired Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in December last year and the Thai group bought over the British retailer for an enterprise value of USD10.6 billion.

One of Tesco Malaysia’s most memorable campaigns was during the first Movement Control Order (MCO) last year when the shopping centre published a guide to help clueless husbands shop for the necessary groceries.
