Rimba Bara 2 brings the rock film legacy to the music fans

‘If Rock Bro was seen as a beautiful ending of the Rock film trilogy, could Rock 4 be the beginning of a journey to revive the Rock legacy for the millennials?’ Renowned director Mamat Khalid is back with his latest Rock film edition which will be theatrically released in Malaysia and Brunei starting 20 February 2020.

The Gala Premiere of Rock 4: Rockers Never Dai was held recently at mmCineplexes, eCurve Mutiara Damansara showcasing a line-up of fresh young artists to bring a new ‘rock n roll’ phenomena in the local music industry.

The Rock trilogy had done an incredible run in Malaysia which inspired Mamat Khalid to carry on the Rock film legacy. Rock 4: Rockers Never Dai stars Sharwani NS, Hazama, Adam John, Bulan Terry, Nazimi Fahmi with special appearances by Dato’ Awie, Khir Rahman, Madnoor Hendrix, Edrie Hashim, Pekin Ibrahim, Kamarool Hj Yusof and many more.

In the film we find Ronnie James “Dio” (Sharwani NS) waking up from a coma many years after being involved in an unfortunate accident. Dio can’t seem to accept the fact that music trends have changed drastically over the years and that “pure talent” isn’t being nurtured and produced. While trying to adapt to the current music scene, he reminisces about  his good times with Rimba Bara. With the use of social media, Dio is determined to save the Rock music industry before it’s too late with new band Rimba Bara 2. Can Dio revive the spirit of Rock music and talents through Rimba Bara 2 whilst continuing the Rock legacy?

Looking back at the success of the Rock film trilogy, we believe that this film is highly anticipated by the loyal Rock fans in Malaysia. We always appreciate Mamat Khalid’s work, especially his rock musical films that are very close to his heart.

“His work resonates with the Rock music scene, accomplished through his storytelling of the hardships that the musicians face until today while showcasing Rock music as a very popular music genre globally. A film that portrays the ups and downs of Rock music, will surely bring back nostalgic moments that will entertain and get everyone to sing-out-loud! The directing of this film comes purely from a true Rocker that will leave you feeling WOW!”, said Puan Shahila Harun Shah, General Manager, Film and Drama, Primeworks Studios.

“I am confident that my latest film will not only attract audiences of all ages but it will also be a phenomenal platform to introduce the Rock music era of the 80’s and 90’s to the new generation. The Rock films have proven to have its loyal legion of fans and I hope that this film will be enjoyed by many more. In other words, Rock 4 is a ‘feel good’ film for the year”, mentioned Mamat Khalid the director.

Another music initiative for this film is a playlist of songs from the previous Rock film franchise such as Rock (2005), Rock Oo! (2012), Rock Bro! (2016) including Rock 4 (2020) that will also be available on digital platforms as part of a tribute to the band Rimba Bara and the Rock film franchise.
