Over the week, Elon Musk took over Twitter. Instagram was down on Monday morning.
Meta’s photo-sharing platform might be no stranger to outages, but this incident was different. After coming back online on Monday, it mysteriously suspended several accounts.
Some users have also complained of a purge in organic followers, a spike in bot followers, changed passwords, and that they were forced to verify their contact details.
Instagram confirmed the snafu in a tweet, tactfully writing, “We’re aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We’re looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience.”
Details are scarce at this time as Instagram is still investigating the matter. Hopefully, affected users will get their accounts back.
