PLUS RAKAN NEGARA MALAYSIA, A FRIEND OF THE NATION

PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) has been Malaysia’s Rakan Negara for over 30 years and has been the main channel where friends are forged, where families unite and where loved ones arrive in an embrace of unity.

“As Rakan Negara, PLUS has been trusted to manage the highway which is one of the Nation’s strategic asset. It requires us to take care of our customers every step of the way through various initiatives including maintaining and managing over 1,000 kilometres of highways, over 8,000 slopes, 2 tunnels, over 6,000 culvert systems, conducting over 10,000 inspections, dozens of rest and service areas and more. We also provide the PLUSRonda team who help highway customers to enjoy a safe and comfortable journey,“ said PLUS Managing Director Datuk Azman Ismail.

According to Azman, Malaysia is a young Nation, only 62 years old but we have journeyed as a Nation and faced many trials and tribulation, yet we always rise above it and we do so because of the friendship and camaraderie that binds us all regardless of race or beliefs.

As a Rakan Negara, PLUS has made various preparations in terms operations to help customers enjoy a safer and smoother ride this holiday. This covers enhancing PLUSRonda services, halting all highway maintenance work that require lane closures, through collaborations with the Police and RTD for law enforcement and many more.

To ingrain these values PLUS will be organizing a Rukun Negara Drawing contest at five schools, which have been identified from among its’ fence line community. The student stands to take home cash prize of RM2,000 and RM5,000 for school respectively.

In tandem with PLUS Merdeka & Malaysia Day campaign, the web film titled, #RakanNegara underlines the crucial role of the younger generation to live up to the 5th Pillar of the Rukun Negara of Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan, which are crucial values that will propel the Nation towards communal harmony and economic prosperity.

As a Rakan PLUS, the schools Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Desa, Bandar Country Homes (Rawang), Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 7, Bangi, Sekolah Kebangsaan Slim River, Perak, Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato Kelana Tapah, Perak and Sekolah Kebangsaan Payamas, Tangkak Batu 18, Johor, were selected because PLUS wants the children to gain a deeper connection to the Rukun Negara, while proudly displaying their creativity for the public to appreciate.

PLUS loyalty programme PLUSMiles will kick-off a creative Merdeka Pantun contest on its official Facebook page using clues for the #RakanNegara web film, where weekly winners will stand a chance to win 62,000 PLUSMiles points from now until 30th September.

The PLUS Merdeka Roving Team will also carry out PLUSMiles and PLUS App activities along selected R&R locations including R&R Pagoh, Ayer Keroh, Seremban, Dengkil, Rawang, Ulu Bernam, Tapah, Gunung Semanggol, Gurun, to reward PLUS Customers, who are also its valued Rakan from Merdeka, 31st August until Malaysia Day on 16th, September 2019.

While the PLUS web film celebrates the spirit of Merdeka, Malaysia and the Rukun Negara, it also seeks to convey the importance relationship between the generation, as both has much to learn from each other. The storyline also brings to life the true meaning of being courteous and considerate, which many may forget in their daily pursuit of life and are fundamental for friendship to last a lifetime.

Today, it is PLUS’ Merdeka wish to reignite the 5th pillar of the Rukun Negara and remind our friends of the principle of “Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan”, of Good Behaviour and Morality, both of which defines us as Malaysian and the key ingredients of long-lasting friendship. It is good behaviour that endears others to us. Morality is the compass that leads us to kindness, to being considerate to others and to uphold the value of integrity and honesty. These are the core values that we at PLUS holds dearly as your Rakan Negara,” added Datuk Azman.

““The selection of the 5th National Pillars of Morality and Morality is closely related and unique to PLUS itself. Every day, we serve about 3 million people comprising of highway customers. That number represents about 10 percent of the total population in the country. As such, PLUS plays a very important role in cultivating and presenting Courage and Morality as our staffs interact with the highway customers daily,” Azman explained.

To celebrate the Independence celebration this year, PLUS has also released the #RakanNegara web film. The #RakanNegara web film recounts the important role young people play in promoting the fifth pillar of the National Pillars of Polity and Morality to continue to drive the nation towards economic harmony and stability.

“#RakanNegara not only celebrates the spirit of independence, Malaysia and the Rukun Negara, but it also touches on the importance of good relations between generations because it provides us the opportunity to learn something from each other. The storyline of #RakanNegara leads to the politeness and thoughtful attitude that is often neglected in everyday life in which both play a vital role in building lasting friendships,” he said.
