‘Paskal The Movie” is the highest rated Malaysian movie, 9.2 on IMDb

Malaysians just got over the high of the success of Hantu Kak Limah. Now, we just got news that Paskal The Movie has just got a really high rating of 9.2 out of 10 stars on IMDb (Internet Movie Database).

The Malaysian movie that was directed by Adrian Teh made history by becoming the first local movie to have obtained a very high rating on IMDb. Paskal The Movie, with a budget of RM10 million, is said to be the most expensive local film ever produced.

Paskal or the RMN’s Pasukan Khas Laut, which was formed on Oct 1, 1982, is the Navy Special Warfare Force which involves in multi-functional special operations, including guerrilla warfare, counter-guerrilla warfare, counter-terrorism, hostage rescue and other specialised missions. It focuses on the force’s anti-piracy missions in the Gulf of Aden and the Sulu Sea, as well as its peacekeeping missions in Angola, and is based on the experiences of its commander, First Admiral Anuar Alias. The film details two actual incidents involving Paskal – the United Nations Angola Verifica­tion Mission II (Univem II) in 1998 and the rescue of hostages from the MV Bunga Laurel, which was hijacked by Somalian pirates in 2011.

It was reported that the film collected RM2 million on its opening night, RM7.5 million after four days and RM22 million in 18 days.

According to RojakDaily, Adrian Teh, the director of Paskal stated that there would be a sequel to Paskal The Movie.

“I will definitely do it (direct a sequel) but maybe not as my next project. I got some other stories in mind that I wanna tell too. I’m giving this title a break and will probably back again maybe in two years’ time,” stated Adrian
