Media Prima Berhad garnered millions of internet users following the Group’s online news coverage throughout Malaysia’s 14th General Elections.
According to Google Analytics, the election period between 6 April and 13 May saw the Group’s news portals which include SAYS, MyUndi, Harian Metro, Berita Harian and New Straits Times – record over 25.6 million in total unique visitors with 296 million total page views.
Media Prima Group said 10% of the total unique visitors throughout the election period were from outside of Malaysia.
On 9 May and 10 May alone, MyUndi, a dedicated GE14 online news platform and mobile app by Media Prima Labs, obtained 2.1 million unique visitors with 13.3 million page views during the same period. MyUndi was also Google’s top search result for the “Undi” keyword during the election season.
Media Prima’s video coverage of GE14 garnered a total of 22.3 million views across its Facebook and Youtube platforms, and via its video-streaming service tonton.
The Group said the total number of visitors and views during the election period was significantly higher against its usual monthly data for its news portals. This would not have been possible without the talent and dedication of Media Prima’s staff and editorial team as well as the multiple online portals that the Groups offers.
“Our massive digital reach during our coverage of GE14 is in-line with Media Prima’s mission to become Malaysia’s leading digital-first content and commerce company. The Group currently ranks third in Malaysia, behind Google and Facebook, in terms of digital reach and our performance to date gives us confidence in achieving our target to increase revenue from digital sources to 20% by 2020,” said Rafiq Razali, Chief Executive Officer of Media Prima Digital.
“Advertisers can tap on Media Prima’s massive digital reach through audience+, our latest digital product to enhance digital advertising performance. This service allows advertisers to improve their campaign performance through precise audience targeting in various advertising formats across Media Prima’s network,” added Rafiq.
