Kit Ong appointed as ECD of Wunderman Thompson Malaysia

Wunderman Thompson Malaysia has appointed creative veteran Kit Ong as Executive Creative Director.

Prior to this, Kit was a partner in two independent creative agencies based in Vietnam and China, specifically the Chief Creative Officer of The Purpose Group in Saigon, and Creative Partner of LogicIllogic in Shanghai.

Kit comes with a strong portfolio producing effective creative works that has resonated with local cultures. He has experience working with brands such as Budweiser, Land Rover, HSBC, Procter & Gamble, Red Bull, Fonterra, Burger King.

“The experience of helping brands thrive in a data-driven e-commerce world as fast-paced as that of China and Vietnam, is immensely useful back home in Malaysia,” says Kit Ong. “At Wunderman Thompson, there are four behaviors we live and work by: ‘in it together’; ‘creative bravery’; ‘positivity’; and ‘listening’ and these four behaviors form the best offence against the challenges that we face today.”

In 2017, Kit was the first to represent Vietnam when he served as jury at Cannes Lions and has been on the panel for Spikes Asia, AdStars, and Cresta to name a few.

“Kit is the perfect fit for Wunderman Thompson Malaysia as we look towards delivering growth for our clients,” said Managing Director of Wunderman Thompson, Patrick Yap. “2021 will see us delivering exciting new solutions that challenges marketing conventions, rooted in our expertise of creativity, technology and data.”

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.
