Mondelēz International appoints James Kane as Malaysia’s Managing Director

Mondelēz International, the maker of iconic brands including Cadbury Dairy Milk, Oreo, Jacobs, Belvita and Twisties, has announced the appointment of James Kane (pic) as Managing Director for Malaysia.
James brings with him prior experience as Country Head for New Zealand to drive further growth and operational excellence in Malaysia. He replaced Swadheen Sharma, who assumed a new role as Managing Director for Southern, Central and Eastern Africa.
James started his career with Mondelēz International in 1999 and held a variety of leadership roles around Australia and more recently in New Zealand. Over the years, he has developed proven commercial acumen, leadership capability and the ability to establish strong business disciplines and strategic customer partnerships.
“Malaysia is one of the fastest growing markets for Mondelēz International. The business here owns an excellent track record for championing the vision to create moments of joy through our well-loved products. We also have in place a high-performing team that embraces a unique sense of belonging, making it a great place to work,” said James.
He added, “Continuing this momentum, the business is ready to unlock new ways in bringing meaningful innovation and delighting our consumers. I’m passionate about growing our people, business and impact, while expanding our category leadership in chocolates, biscuits and salty snacks in Malaysia – just the way we are in every market we play.”
His appointment came at the back of a successful fiscal year, having defended its leadership as Malaysia’s No. 1 provider in chocolate and biscuit categories. In addition, Mondelēz International was recognized as the Best Halal Chocolate Bar under Heritage Brand for Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates at the Halal Brand Awards 2017.
With a diverse portfolio in the FMCG sector, James brings with him almost two decades of experience in sales, business planning, and execution. His appointment exemplifies the way Mondelēz International grows talent from within the business, providing employees with immense opportunity for development and leadership paths.

MARKETING Magazine is not responsible for the content of external sites.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.

Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.

Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.

Collaboration is keypartnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.

Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
