In this week’s news of lending a hand, Grab Malaysia has announced that it will be offering RM2.5 million worth in advertising space to small and independent businesses on its platform and also help create personalised ads for each of them from 15 August to 18 September.
The personalised ads will be featured on prominent spaces within the Grab app itself. According to Grab, this initiative is in conjunction with Merdeka Day and the spirit that comes along with the holiday of Malaysians coming together to celebrate the country’s persistence.
The initiative, which is a follow up to the recent Local Heroes campaign, will see Grab covering the cost and resources required to produce these marketing materials and will benefit approximately 500 local businesses nationwide. According to Grab, merchant-partners who previously acquired banner ads on the GrabFood homepage saw a 300% return on advertising spend and merchant-partners who participated in last year’s Merdeka promotions saw a 4.5 times increase in sales compared to the month prior.
As Grab’s campaigns during Merdeka are also geared towards supporting Grab’s frontliners. Managing Director of Grab Malaysia, Sean Goh, emphasised that this not only included restaurant and merchant partners but also their driver and delivery partners.
“We also want to encourage all Malaysians to continue showing their love and appreciation to these frontliners by tipping them whenever they can,” said Managing Director of Grab Malaysia, Sean Goh. “It has definitely been a challenging few months for all of us, but let’s work together to ensure that we all pull through these uncertain times.”
