Gigi Lee named President of Cresta Awards jury

Gigi Lee, Chief Creative at TBWA Malaysia to lead the 86-member jury
Gigi Lee, Chief Creative Officer, TBWA, Group Malaysia, has been selected as President of the 2018 Jury for Cresta Awards.
This is Cresta’s 26th year of celebrating the best in international advertising and marketing through a world-wide creative competition.
Announcing this honor for Gigi, Nancy Ross, President and co-founder of Cresta Awards, called her “a top awarded creative talent who is regionally and globally recognized for the impact she has created within her advertising community.”
Commenting on her selection, Gigi said, “The Cresta Awards has a ‘no politics, no discussion’ judging system. The show has a purely mathematical system, and that’s why I respect it. “
She further added, “Tough selection, no games, and a panel of respected creatives; And their one job is:  Find the very best work from around the world, and establish the absolute creative standard. We will celebrate ideas that inspire the world beyond the parameters of our industry.
So much of advertising these days is cut and paste. I know the work at Cresta won’t be.”
Nancy said, “We are thrilled and extremely honored that Gigi accepted our Grand Jury President invitation.”
Since 1993, Cresta Awards has been “honoring an absolute standard of creative excellence in international advertising and marketing communications,” Nancy added.
Gigi said that she was keenly looking out for innovative, breakthrough and entrepreneurial work at this year’s Cresta Awards.
We have 86 respected jurors from 45 countries. They will not discuss the work, rather they will vote on it in an extremely fair and unbiased process. The only criteria are the originality of the idea and the quality of its execution.”
Gigi’s career started with a ‘You had me at Helvetica’ moment. Her foundation in art and design led her from one account to another, with bigger and greater responsibilities each time.
Some of the brands she’s handled include Tiger Beer, Guinness, P&G, Toyota, ASTRO Broadcasting, and more. In her first 3 years as ECD, she won Best of Show and Agency of the Year at the Kancils. She was named World’s 12th best ECD by The Big Won; and One of Asia’s Top 10 Creatives by Adobo Magazine.
ANDYs, ADC, Adfest, Cannes, Clio, D&AD, LIAA, NYFest, and One Show, are some other places she won laurels.
At TBWA, she has been tasked to drive the creative output across all clients within the Malaysian outfit: TBWA\Creative Juice and TBWA\Digital Arts Network.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.

Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.

Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.

Collaboration is keypartnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.

Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
