The announcement on Indonesia came at a press screening and premiere held on 26 December 2019 at CGV, Grand Indonesia Mall, Jakarta attended by lucky fans, press, business partners and personalities from the local entertainment industry.

The Meet and Greet session was also attended by Ida Rahayu Yusoff and Nabilah Rais, who respectively voiced the characters of Ejen Ali and Niki in Ejen Ali the Movie and WAU Animation’s composers Azri Yunus and Hakim Kamal, who collaborated to create the Movie’s riveting film score and songs.

The event also featured the official launch of complementary content in the universe of Ejen Ali the movie, with the release of the Official Movie Comic Book and Original Motion Picture Soundtrack officiated by Ida Rahayu, Nabilah Rais, Azri Yunus and Hakim Kamal.

The Official Movie Comic Book features selected behind-the-scenes art from the Movie’s production and adapts Ali’s journey from the Movie in a publication format. Priced at RM21.90 (West Malaysia) / RM22.90 (East Malaysia), the comic book will be available at local bookstores and convenience store outlets nationwide from January 2020 onwards.

Limited quantities of the comic book will also be made available at the Ourshop pop-up store on 31 December 2019 in front of H&M Lot 10, Kuala Lumpur. Other exclusive merchandises will be available from today at the pop-up store, as well as on AirAsia WiFi’s marketplace soon. Ourshop is the e-Commerce arm of the AirAsia Group and this marks the start of the collaboration between AirAsia and Ejen Ali to showcase local products and stories to the global stage.”

On the other hand, after receiving commendations from film critics and fans on social media, the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (OST) album was widely released on YouTube alongside the fourth single from the Movie, Mama (Di Hatimu), on 27 December 2019.

The OST album features 25 tracks originally composed by Azri Yunus and Hakim Kamal to complement key moments in Ejen Ali The Movie, while Mama (Di Hatimu) is a heart-wrenching lullaby as a mother’s tribute to her child, performed by Ejen Ali’s voice actor, Ida Rahayu Yusoff.

The highly requested song was released on Friday, 20 December 2019 on YouTube with over 850,000 views to date. The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album is now available on Apple Music and is expected to drop on other major streaming platforms by January 2020.

Ida Rahayu said, “In all my years of experience as a voice actor, I never thought I would be performing a song for the soundtrack. As a young mother myself I really felt my emotions well up when I was performing a key scene from the Movie between Ali and his mother, and that was the emotion I brought to the song’s performance. I’m truly touched by the overwhelming response to Mama (Di Hatiku) from the fans, who have been constantly reaching to me via social media and saying how much they love it. Thank you for all your support!”

Azri Yunus adds, “From all the fans’ feedback received so far, I’m glad to hear that the music score and songs like Bukalah Matamu, Mamak Maju and Mama (Di Hatiku) which Hakim and I collaborated on has captured all the emotional, suspenseful and action-packed scenes that our director Usamah Zaid Yasin had envisioned. Thanks to his guidance we were able to create meaningfully and we hope when the fans listen to the OST album, they’ll be transported back to the magical moment they watched the Movie in cinemas.”

Ejen Ali The Movie, powered by Tenaga Nasional Berhad and in partnership with Mydin and Pediasure, is currently screening at 125 locations in Malaysia.

The animation follows a 12-year-old Ejen Ali, who after being accidentally recruited as a spy has now grown to embrace his role in secret agency Meta Advance Tactical Agency (MATA) to protect the futuristic city of Cyberaya from outside threats.
