According to a statement released by Star Media Group, independent Non-Executive Chairman, Dato’ Fu Ah Kiow, has tendered his letter of resignation at the Company’s board meeting held on 25 Feb 2021, resigning as Director and Chairman of the Board effective today.
He says it is time to give way to new leadership and that he wishes to spend more time with his family.
He also added that after a restructuring exercise, Star Media Group has built a team of capable, united, dedicated and young top management. With the appointment of the new GCEO Alex Yeow Wai Siaw to lead the team, Dato’ Fu expressed confidence that the transformation programmes would eventually bear fruit and propel the group to new heights.
“Dato’ Fu urged all Directors, management and staff to give the new GCEO, Alex Yeow, their fullest support and cooperation to ensure the future success of the group,” Star Media Group said in the statement. “Dato’ Fu, who also served as Chairman of Star Foundation, the charity arm of Star Media Group Berhad, will also relinquish his chairmanship in the Foundation.”
Dato’ Fu was appointed Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company on 27 February 2014 and Board Chairman since 21 May 2014.
The statement added that the Group’s Board will make the necessary effort to identify a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy as soon as possible.
