In 13 of 14 APAC markets surveyed, Coca-Cola maintained its market dominance, only finishing second behind its rival, Pepsi, in Thailand.
According to Campaign Asia, it’s a huge win for the brand as it lays down a marker as it outplays 470 beverage brands in a hyper-competitive market.
In Malaysia, it also overtook 100 Plus to become No.1 there as well. In the overall Top 1000 Brands ranking, it is at 12 this year, while Pepsi is much lower at 98.
In the non-fizzy soft drink sector of fruit juice, Minute Maid has knocked Tropicana from its No. 1 spot as Asia’s favourite.
Markets like China and Indonesia have also picked Minute Maid as their top fruit juice brand, which is a great win for Coca-Cola, the parent company of this beverage.
In the mineral water category, the top 5 brands remain in order, Evian, Coca-Cola, Perrier, Aquafina and Watsons.
Interestingly, Schweppes is now Australia’s top water brand. While Lipton is a new top brand in tea in the country, and still remains Asia’s favourite tea brand in totality.
