The premiere of the highly anticipated Disney movie ‘Beauty and the Best’ is no longer in limbo.
Two of Malaysia’s major cinemas, GSC & TGV have confirmed to MARKETING that they will be showing the live-action Disney movie beginning March 30th and that the movie will be shown in its entirety with none of the earlier proposed cuts.
Announcement of the new screening on GSC’s Facebook page
Celeste Koay, Head of Marketing Services at TGV shared that the company had already refunded eager fans who have booked their tickets beforehand.
She added that with the announcement still being fresh the team was now preparing for the movie’s new launch date.
While Beauty and the Beast is a major attraction for cinemagoers Celeste added that TGV would also be running the promotions for their other main attractions this school holiday season,
“TGV is bringing back all-time-favorites such as Moana, Sing, Lego Batman and Zootopia. We are launching a School Holiday Access Pass at RM40 and each pass comes with four movie vouchers for the aforementioned movies. Each voucher admits one (1) adult and up to two (2) kids aged 12 years and below. It is an irresistible deal! We are also collaborating with Astro to bring Didi & Friends Special Screening to our cinemas. We also have the highly anticipated Power Rangers movie and sci-fi horror film Life opening next week.”
Beauty and the Beast was slated to open in cinemas on March 16th however after local censors demanded cuts to be made for the movie’s ‘gay moment’ Disney made the decision, last week, to pull the movie’s Malaysian release.
