Pizza Hut and Ikea collaborate on pizza and flatpack products

Pizza Hut and Ikea in Hong Kong have collaborated on a special pizza that features Ikea meatballs, as well as a flatpack table designed to fit a pizza on top.

The two brands teased the collaboration in a series of social media posts, including one of a Pizza Hut delivery man asleep in an Ikea store and the ‘boardroom moment’ when the new flavour was created.

The pizza, which has the Ikea meatballs as its main ingredient, is now for sale via Pizza Hut Hong Kong. While Pizza Hut is also selling the Ikea Sava table, packaged in a giant pizza box, a perfectly sized table to enjoy a pizza with friends.

Wendy Leung, marketing director for Pizza Hut Hong Kong, said: “This campaign shows the playful side of Pizza Hut, and that our credentials can move beyond the kitchen into new and interesting collaborations with other brands.”

The campaign was created by Pizza Hut’s agency Ogilvy.

John Koay, executive creative director at Ogilvy Hong Kong, said: “We’ve been absolutely thrilled to see the launch of the new Pizza Hut x IKEA pizza with a fun, cheeky campaign that has proven to be quite popular with the fans already on the first day! This is a great pizza, and this campaign really shows how collaborations can really benefit the fans – not just the brands.”

According to Ogilvy, the sales of the products are currently selling with 67% more units sold than projected in the first three days.
