Foodpanda to hire over 500 people to form Singapore tech hub

Foodpanda said it has established Singapore as its Southeast Asia headquarters and will hire upwards of 500 product and engineering experts to form a new tech hub in the city-state.

It plans get 100 engineers on board in the next three months.

Since its launch in 2012, Foodpanda Singapore’s product development has been primarily managed by Berlin-based Delivery Hero. It has picked Singapore to be its regional headquarters to ensure proximity to the markets it serves.

“The Asian market is dynamic with many players helping to shape nascent industries like ours and boost the regional and local economies,” a spokesperson from Delivery Hero said.

Delivery Hero’s global performance report for Q2 2019 shows that Asia has experienced the greatest growth in orders, jumping by 114.8% year on year. The region placed well above the EMEA region (59.7%) and the Americas (43.8%).AD.

Foodpanda Singapore also announced that it will be offering third-party liability insurance for its all active PMD and bicycle riders starting September through a partnership with insurance cooperative NTUC Income.

The company said it currently has more than 6,000 riders.
