Petronas continues to inspire Malaysians

petronas malaysia day

Petronas has a long history of making festive and national day commercials.

Every year, Petronas seeks to shine a light on the feelings, intentions and thoughts that are part of growing and encouraging a Malaysian identity and creating progress for the nation.

This year Petronas turned the tables around and asked Malaysians to share their stories and perspectives.

And not just any Malaysian, but young Malaysian children. Their innocence and pureness of perspective is the power that can inspire the rest of us and create a sense of joy.

This is what Petronas means to ‘see Malaysia anew’.

It is a drive to re-awaken and bring attention to the good things that are Malaysian, and to remind Malaysians that they can always make the choice to celebrate, preserve and spread these simple joys.

To see Malaysia anew, 10 children traveled with a team of film-makers – these children were our photographer-storytellers.

Ranging in age from 5-12 years old, they have never had any formal training in photography.

They were given digital cameras and taken around to explore various parts of our country, to be themselves and capture what they felt best about.

As children would tend to do, they did this in a fresh manner.

Free of adult judgement or scepticism, they captured scenes of Malaysian life and shared what it meant to them.

These scenes were assembled into themes, namely Hope, Love, Heroes and Family – the ‘essentials’ that have kept Malaysia moving forward for all her people.

Every piece of content concludes with a simple request – to cherish, share and uphold these values as our responsibility and contribution to the new generation who will inherit this blessed nation.
