Award-winning marketing veteran Timothy Johnson has been appointed as the Director of Marketing at UNITAR International University.
Taking charge for all aspects of marketing, PR, and new product development, Timothy reports to both the CEO (Puvan Balachandran) and Head of Revenue (Eddy Choo) of UNITAR respectively.
Founded in 1997 as Southeast Asia’s first virtual university, UNITAR’s programmes are offered in 13 locations, which includes their main campus in Kelana Jaya.
As Director of Marketing, Johnson’s envisions an increased interaction with UNITAR’s consumers, thus creating greater value for individuals who seek purpose in their educational journey with UNITAR. Despite the challenges caused by the pandemic, UNITAR used their opportunities in growth and learning. For Timothy, the pandemic brought about the opportunity to upskill, upgrade and re-tool.
Timothy was the recipient of the award for Best Marketer in Education & Training at MARKETING Magazine’s Malaysian CMO Awards in 2018, during his time as the SVP of Marketing, Product and Partnerships at INTI International University and Colleges.
Stepping down early last year after almost seven years, Timothy first joined INTI in 2014 as VP, marketing from Standard Chartered Bank. As SVP, Timothy has made major contributions towards the strategy and execution of the marketing, product, partnership, and working adult segment of INTI’s students in one university and five colleges. Timothy was instrumental in changing perceptions and building the brand, delivering the vision of reinventing education for the world of IR4.0.
A graduate of University of Malaya in Economics and Business Administration, Timothy has also helmed various instrumental roles at Standard Chartered Bank, Citigroup and Nestle S.A. in his illustrious career.
