Star Media Group’s COO for digital and print, Kang Yew Jin (left) and CMO of product division, Lam Swee Kim (right) are stepping down from their positions to pursue other opportunities.
Kang was promoted from CTO to COO of the group earlier this year to oversee the technology, analytics, circulation, and production departments.
Prior to Star Media Group, Kang was with Hong Leong Bank as chief information officer for more than two years where he managed IT for the bank which included group infrastructure services and oversaw international offices in Singapore, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Other past experiences include working at OCBC Bank, AmBank, IBM Global Services, MetLife, and Accenture.
Lam on the other hand, as CMO for SMG Entertainment, was tasked to oversee Star Media Group’s video-on-demand service dimsum entertainment which will officially close down operations by the end of September this year.
The move follows a strategic review carried out by SMG’s key management team that has identified a number of new opportunities the group will explore in to further strengthen its position in the industry.
Commenting on the discontinuation of dimsum entertainment, Lam Swee Kim said that while it was a difficult decision to end this chapter, they were excited to explore promising new ventures in the near future.
