The Star launches new video streaming service

 (marketingmagazine.com.my) – Yesterday the Star Media Group launched its latest offering, dimsum, the latest video-on-demand (VOD) service serving the best Asian content. The new homegrown online streaming platform in Malaysia offering Subscription Video-on-Demand (SVOD) on its dimsum app and dimsum.my.

For a RM15 monthly subscription fee, users can enjoy exclusive content from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore and more as well as award-winning documentaries, anime and children animation series.

Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Star Media Group, Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai shared, “We will be offering the best Asian content on SVOD service from our curated library sourced from all over the region. The content will mainly be drama series from Taiwan, Japan, China, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia.”

In his speech at the event YB Datuk Seri Dr. Salleh Said Keruak the Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia share, “The government targets the digital economy to contribute approximately 20% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2020, and was the key focus of the 2017 Budget announced by our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Budget Consultation Council Meeting recently.”

He added, “The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia is ready to play a significant role in accelerating digital economy for the development of the nation Information and Communications Technology (ICT), particularly broadband cloud computing Big Data and the Internet of Things (IoT) were already driving the digitization of all industries.”
