Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, group CEO and founder of AirAsia is the latest local personality to lend his voice to the popular navigation app, Waze.

The video showcasing the key highlights from Tony’s recording for Waze was posted on AirAsia’s social media platforms two days ago and has so far received over 24,000 views on Facebook and over 3,000 views on YouTube.

Sharing his thoughts on the collaboration Tony shared, “A lot of people ask me what it’s like being an AirAsia pilot. Now you can experience what it’s like to fly high in the sky interacting with me as your air traffic control,”

“And like real air traffic control, I can’t make any promises about the congestion but I can promise that with Waze, we will get you there the quickest and least boring way possible.”

Commenting on the collaboration Edward Ling, Sales Manager, Waze Malaysia told MARKETING, “Voice prompts are one of our most popular features and a great way to bring a brand to life within the context of a drive.”

The campaign launched yesterday and so far there is no set end date to the campaign.

Most recently MARKETING collaborated with Waze to promote our CMO Conference which Edward was also a speaker at.

Apart from Air Asia, Waze has collaborated with various brands including Maxis, Malaysia Airlines and most recently Etika to launch Malaysia’s first singing GPS navigation.

MARKETING Magazine is not responsible for the content of external sites.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.

Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.

Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.

Collaboration is keypartnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.

Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
