The Star Online ranked as the top news site in Malaysia

(Marketingmagazine.com.my) – In the latest The Malaysian Digital Association (MDA), monthly rankings for the top online entities, The Star Online topped the charts as the top news portal visited from Desktops computers in Malaysia for the month of March.

In the same category, the top five sites listed following up from The Star Online was MALAYSIAKINI.COM, ABOUT.COM, SAYS.COM and SINARHARIAN.COM.MY.

Here are some key insights from the study:
Once again the top two spots for Malaysian’s local website of choice came from the banking sector with MAYBANK2U.COM.MY taking the top spot followed by CIMBCLICKS.COM.MY. The same was also see for the past two months.

• On the top global websites frequented by local users Google, Facebook and Yahoo sites take the top three spots. New to enter the top 20 spot this month was Astro Group and Alibaba.com Corporation.

• In the top news portal, category THESTAR.COM.MY ranked as the top web domain in March with 917,000 unique visitors, followed by MALAYSIAKINI.COM with 695,000 and ABOUT.COM with 632,000.
