“I’m absolutely thrilled with the opportunity to lead the premier creativity event in Asia Pacific. It’s exciting to be charged with the continued evolution and growth of Spikes Asia and I’m really looking forward to working closely with the creative, media and client communities throughout the region. I’m committed to delivering an awesome festival that not only celebrates the best in creativity and effectiveness but also delivers the unforgettable experiences our audience deserves,” said Joe.
Prior to this role, Joe was the Director of sales of Event Cinemas, Australia and New Zealand’s largest entertainment business. Before that role, he was Head of Trade Marketing for News Corp Australia, where he was also the official representative for the Cannes Lions and Spikes Asia festivals.
“As the communications landscape goes through some seismic changes, the role of events like Spikes Asia as a place where the industry comes together has never been more important. “Joe joins Spikes Asia with a vast array of experience and a deep knowledge of the region – he will ensure Spikes will continue in the seamless way it has in the past. I’m confident that Joe’s energy and enthusiasm for Spikes will build on the strong legacy left by Andrea Hayes and take Spikes to the next level, ” commented Philip Thomas, CEO, Ascential Events.

After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.

We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTTDOOHinfluencer marketing, retail, etc.

Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.

Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.

Collaboration is keypartnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.

Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
