SAFI SHAYLA SETS MALAYSIAN RECORD WITH LARGEST POUND FITNESS EVENT, IN ITS MISSION TO EMPOWER WOMEN IN ACTIVE SPORTS

SAFI Shayla, the leading hijabi hair care brand, has once again championed women’s empowerment — this time through active sports. Despite heavy downpour on the day, the brand successfully hosted Sembur, POUND & Slay! event which was officiated by YB Adam Adli bin Abd Halim, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports in conjunction with Hari Sukan Negara 2024.

A total of 1,270 women gathered at Dataran Putrajaya, defying the weather to participate in a record-breaking POUND® fitness session, proving that nothing can stop them from pursuing their passion, no matter rain or shine.

SLAY-ing It with SAFI Shayla Hijab Hair Parfum Mist at Hari Sukan Negara

After championing female empowerment in e-sports through its Sembur, Play, Slay! campaign in collaboration with Mediabrands Content Studio (MBCS) in January 2024, SAFI Shayla partnered with POUNDwithHanis and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) this October during Hari Sukan Negara which was themed Cergas Bersama, continuing its mission to empower hijabi women in active sports.

“The ‘Sembur, POUND & Slay!’ event not only reflects SAFI Shayla’s commitment to empower hijabi women who lead an active lifestyle to feel confident and stay fresh in their hijabs. SAFI Shayla’s perfumed hair mist helps them keep their covered hair fragrant and free from musty odours (bau kepam) caused by sweat, especially during dynamic workouts like POUND Fit.

We hope that this would lead to the beginning of a vibrant movement where every woman can express herself confidently without limits.” said Yan Ghazaly, creative director at MBCS.

Led by Hanis Nor, an inspiring POUND Fit ICON Master Trainer, the event buzzed with excitement and determination as participants carried on with the hour-long workout.

“POUND Fitness is about expressing strength, connecting with others, and building self-confidence. Watching 1,270 women of all fitness levels power through the rain with full energy and confidence was amazing.” Hanis shared.

“As a hijabi coach myself, I understand the challenges of living an active lifestyle under Malaysia’s hot and humid weather conditions, while wearing a hijab. SAFI Shayla Hijab Hair Parfum Mist helps me to smell good and stay fresh all day, no matter the intensity of the workout.”

Pink Power for PINKtober: SAFI Shayla raising Breast Cancer Awareness

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, SAFI Shayla donated RM5 to the Breast Cancer Foundation, for every participant who joined the “Sembur, POUND & Slay!” event. The participants proudly wore pink, further supporting the cause as part of the brand’s dress code initiative.

“As we celebrate this event and the strength of our community, we highlight the importance of breast cancer awareness,” said Kazlina Mohd Kassim, SAFI Brand & Insights Specialist.

This initiative encourages women to embrace active lifestyles while prioritising their health, and to keep moving forward, no matter the obstacles — just like they did today.” she added.

SAFI Shayla’s “Sembur, POUND & Slay!” event has set a new Malaysia Book of Records for the most female participants in a POUND Workout Session, proving that women can overcome any challenge and excel while staying confident in their hijabs. It symbolizes yet another milestone in SAFI Shayla’s mission to support women at every step of their journey.”
