Possibility of first female CEO at TM

TM may get its first female CEO

News on the grapevine is that Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd Group CEO Datuk Rohana Rozhan could become the next CEO at TM.

According to reliable sources if this is true Rohana will be the first ever female CEO to take over at TM.

According to a source, Rohana’s name has been up for consideration since the resignation of Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly in June.

“There are five candidates, and three candidates are not from TM. One of them is her (Rohana),” said the source.

Rohana will resign as Astro Group CEO, with effect from 31 January 2019, but will remain on the board as Non-Executive Director.

The other candidate that is being considered for TM’s CEO is TM’s Chief Strategy Officer Dr Farid Mohamed Sani, sources told NSTP.

In addition, the source said Datuk Bazlan Osman, who resigned as TM’s Acting Group CEO on Friday, declined an offer from TM’s board for the job before resigning after serving the group for 16 years.

On Friday, TM announced the appointment of Imri Mokhtar as Acting Group CEO following the resignation of Bazlan which came into effect on November 16.

Bazlan has also resigned as TM’s Executive Director which will take effect on 28 February 2019.

Imri, 45, is the Chief Operating Officer of TM and the Executive Vice President of Unifi.

He is responsible for the overall portfolio management consisting of telephone, broadband, mobile, TV, wifi and reload services for TM’s home and business customers.

At time of reporting TM shares rose 2.6% to RM2.32 per share from a five-year low of RM2.22 per share.
